Oil Painting 19th Century Medieval Battle Scene, Geo Percy Hood - $4,995 - (St. Louis, MO)
Monumental 19th century medieval battle scene oil painting. An old 47” x 71”, oil on canvas depicting a king and his army assaulting a highly defended turreted castle complete with draw bridge and moat. Focus on highly decorated King in royal jeweled, plumed polished amour. Scene is complete with infantry, Calvary, cross bows, long bows and axe men and jousters, flags and banners. The high quality painting is not visibly signed, but written in pencil on back of lined inner wood frame is the name GEO PERCY HOOD. (I believe) As can be seen under recent “Maybe 50 yrs.” brown paper, this is definitely an old work of art. Facial detail of knight his generals is of the quality and style of Hood. Painting is dirty so needs some cleaning I'm sure. Size with frame 55 x 78” weight 50-60 lbs. or so. Thanks for looking. Please ask questions before bidding. Buyer will pay shipping if shipping is possible. We think this should be a pick up because of size. Buyer arranges shipping or picking up of painting..
