Hand Stitched Pin Wheel Patchwork Quilt ~1930's~ Flour & Sugar Sacks ~ So lovely - $90 - (Hawkins, TX)
This is a very nice quilt. Beautiful and colorful with the multi-color pinwheels. It is in such wonderful condition for a quilt which was probably made in the 1930's or even earlier. Looking this good when you're 85 to a 100 years old is somewhat of a marvel. It is all 100% cotton made from the material that held all kinds of products such as flour, sugar, feed and seed. It has a thin cotton batting and if you hold it up to the light you can see evidence of cotton seed in the cotton boll. The backing has some yellowing, especially around the edges. The quilting is amazing because it fills up the whole of the quilt. The stitching is tiny, about 6 stitches to the inch. There is one particular pattern of material, small brown dots, which has worn more quickly than the rest and you can see cotton through the wear. It measures 74 X 86 and is a work of art.
