Collection of New Jersey Diaries, Emme Family, Hindenburg Disaster, 1898-1937! - $695 - (Huntington, WV)
A huge and amazing collection of diaries (32 in total) belonging to Henry F. Emme (1862-1941) of New Jersey. He was an engineer and former manager of Gould & Eberhardt machine tool manufacturers in Newark; in California he managed the Goldy Machine Company; and in Iowa he served as the manager of the White Lily Manufacturing Company. He eventually returned to new Jersey and lived out the remainder of his life there. His diaries are fairly full, with lots of detail and information, including mention of the Hindenburg disaster in 1937. The diaries cover 1898, 1907 (x2), 1909, 1914, 1915, 1916 (x2), 1919, 1920, 1921, 1922 (x2), 1923, 1925 (x2), 1926 (x2), 1927, 1928 (x2), 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932 (x2), 1933, 1935, 1936, 1937, plus two notebooks that are not diaries, but full of notes, etc. They are in pretty good condition, readable, and are mainly full of notations, though some more so than others.
