1960 Fender Stratocaster - $13,900 - (Painesville, OH)
Up for sale is a one owner, 1960 Fender stratocaster with the original case, tremolo arm and ashtray in beautiful condition. The guitar is all original except for a refinished body, a lightly over sprayed neck and a bone nut. In 65, the owner liked the look of the Mosrite finish over Fenders, and had the body refinshed and the neck oversprayed, and in 90 had the bone nut installed. Otherwise, the guitar is all original, super clean and a light weight at 7 lbs 11 oz. The 52 year old refinish still looks very nice, and has the typical finish checking showing it's age. The green guard is one of the cleanest I have ever seen, and the electronics are all original with the pots dating 6043. The slabboard neck is in excellent condition and very difficult to tell that it's been oversprayed, but it has, and the original frets are in nice condition with some wear. The only issue with the neck are some very minor marks around the tuner bushings when they were removed for the respray, that are not very noticeable, but worth mentioning.The Klusons are the originals with no extra screw holes from other tuners on the back of the head stock, and all of the hardware on the guitar is original and in very clean condition. The trem block still has four of it's original springs and the back cover does have a corner missing. The original case is in nice condition, but does show some wear and the latches do not spring up.
