The matrix is 10 cm by 7.5 cm and the fish is 8.5 cm by 5 cm. The matrix has been repaired. While it is not a complete fish, it is a must have for any fossil fish collector. This bottom feeding armored fish lived in brackish water and seas, in the middle of the Late Devonian period, about 370 million years ago. As one of the earliest known Placoderms, Bothriolepis represents a very important link to understanding the evolutionary journey of fish.Thanks for looking.
