RARE 1918 FRENCH BRONZE SCULPTURE CHARLES DESPIAU 1874 - 1946 (PEWTER) RARE 1918 FRENCH BRONZE (PEWTER) SCULPTURE ON BOARD BY CHARLES DESPIAU 1874-1946 FROM AN ESTATE COLLECTION Up for auction is a Bronze (Pewter) Sculpture dated 1918 on Board by French Artist Charles Depiau 1874 - 1946. Research has determined that the casting in pewter to be quite rare with the bronze to be the preferred and more prevalent medium for the artist. It is signed and dated in relief in the lower right. The title of the sculpture is "Lida and the Swan" "Leda et le Cygne" and is in good condition with no cracks or repairs and it has some abrasion where the hardware comes into contact with the sculpture plus, it has wear marks and rubs in accordance with its age and use (enlarge pictures and look carefully to determine its true condition). The approximate dimensions are (18cm) 7.1" inches by (12.4cm) 5" inches alone and not including the board. The sculpture was part of collection recently acquired from the estate of deceased Doctor in New York City, NY. Posted shipping costs are for USA lower 48 states.
