Dempsey-Tunney Famed 'Long Count' Autographed by Both - $750 - (Halifax, NS)

Autographed in black ink by Gene Tunney, and in blue ink by Jack Dempsey. This photo is 10 X 8 with some creasing along the borders and the corners. There is a short crease near the middle, and middle-right.This famed knock-down of Tunney by Dempsey came in the rematch in 1927 of their first bout where Gene had beaten Jack for the World Heavyweight Championship in 1926. Jack would not immediately go to a corner following the knockdown giving Gene extra time to recuperate.Gene would retain his title with a 10 round decision.Could Gene have gotten up in regulation time? Who knows....Jack Dempsey was elected to the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1954.Gene Tunney was elected to the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1955.
