Icom IC-251A and IC-451A VHF UHF Transceiver Pair "Twins" - $595 - (Laramie, WY)

Very nice pair of vintage VHF/UHF Multi-mode Icom “twins”: IC-251A, 2 meter, and IC-451A, 70 cm transceivers. Rigs are capable of 10+ watts output on SSB, CW, and FM. IC-271A covers the full 2 meter band w repeater split capabilities. Although FM-capable, the IC-451A, covers from 430 – 440 MHz only. Both rigs have built-in powers supplies. The station comes with two HM-7 mics , manuals, and original boxes (although, not in great shape). The 251A is near mint cosmetically, and the -451A is “excellent” (NOT near mint). Both front panels are very clean w/o scratches, scuffs, etc. Radios have been bench-tested and adjusted (when necessary) – play very well! Couple of observations: Both fluor. displays flicker when tuned through the bands with some segments slightly unevenly lit. This is likely due to aged caps on the display board (minor issue). Secondly, when the radios’ ac power is interrupted (even when off), memory inputs will be lost (described in the manual). In memory "on" mode, the -251A also exhibits a display blanking when the power is interrupted, which can be simply re-set by cycling the memory on-off switch in back. This is a documented quirk of the radio. Other than that, all functions work, receiver sensitivities meet specs., transmitters produce full output, and SSB and FM sound good on the air.
