The company issued it's first Christmas plate in 1908 and has continued annually without interruption. The plate was purchased from a dealer in the year of issue, and was selected from several identical plates that were presented for purchase for it's overall color tone and visibility of the artist's details. The plate is in mint condition and has never been displayed or used. It has been out of the box only for examination and to be photographed with the original packaging as the background, and was then returned to the box, where it awaits your purchase today. The original box and all packaging and accompanying pamphlets and/or certificates remain with the plate. The box is in very good condition, and has been exposed to very little light over the years, so it remains very much in appearance as it did the day it was purchased. Please compare this plate with others being sold, and observe the details of the characters, as well as the details of the border decoration. There is a great deal of variation in the deposition of the pigment on every plate of this series. Every plate has an occasional small white spot in the pigment, as is the way it is with the process of manufacturing the plates. (Note:major white spots are reflected glare from the photography lighting, which is unavoidable). This individual plate was selected from among several with attention to this detail, and is probably the best rendition of the artwork on sale here today.
