"A Drifting Snow" by William Van de Velde Bonfield (1834-1885), oil on canvas, relined, signed and dated on verso: "A drifting snow/W. Van de Velde Bonfield/Phila. 1866" Original Period Frame. Many of Bonfield's scenes depict the area in and around Burlington County, New Jersey. His father was George Bonfield, a marine painter, and his work is reminiscent of Thomas Birch and George Durrie. He exhibited winter scenes at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from 1861-1868. Framed size: 21" X 25 1/2"
