800x600 “Vermont Village in Winter” by James K Bonnar Signed: Jas K. Bonnar (a.k.a. James King Bonnar) (1885-1961) Titled: “Vermont Village in Winter” Numbered: On the Back of the Framing Paper there is # 815 Signed Lower Right This original Print “Vermont Village in Winter” by James K Bonnar – has been in my family a very long time. I remember as a child growing up starring at this painting because it is so mesmerizing. My mom passed away at 84 yrs old in 2004 so we never got an opportunity to ask her when she purchased the painting, but I was born in 1943 and this painting was always hung on the living room wall in my parents’ home. This numbered Bonnar print is of a beautiful winter scene with several quaint homes surrounding the town’s church with steeple. There is a horse drawn sleigh traveling down the snow covered street and a man standing outside by his mail box on a cold winter's day so long ago. This print is mounted under glass with original framing and measures approximately 28" x 30" and on the back of the frame the paper shows a # 815 and a sticker marked “Snow Village”. History researched online: James King Bonnar, who lived at 49 Judkins Street in Newtonville, was born in North Adams, Massachusetts. A graduate of the Massachusetts School of Art (originally known as the Massachusetts Normal Art School and now known as the Massachusetts College of Art), Bonnar was popular as a teacher and demonstrator and active in a number of local art organizations. In 1949 he founded the Newton Art Association, which is now in its 55th year. To honor James Bonnar his family inaugurated the annual Founders Award for artistic achievement in April 2003.
