Pots, Art and other great collectibles Historical information: In this listing, I am offering this outstanding Pisgah Forest Pottery rosebowl or vase form with killer crystal glaze design. It is signed with raised potter at wheel with 4 and 7 to the side of the potter and Stephen below. Per Vasefinder:W.B. Stephen was a legendary folk potter, who started making pots with his mother in 1904 under the name of Nonconnah in Tennessee. In 1913, he moved to North Carolina and continued with the Nonconnah name until 1916. After working with Oscar Luther Bachelder, he founded the famous Pisgah Forest Pottery in 1926. The design of his pots were classical Chinese forms, where crackle, crystalline and Jasperware type raised designs were used. There are well over 30 marks known from this pottery, as well as a few potters worked at the kiln over the many years of its existence. Walter exhibited at the Syracuse Ceramic Nationals in 1935 and 1940.This is another fine offering by Vasefinder for the masses.
