*RARE ERROR* 1901 $10 FR-122 BISON NOTE PMG XF40 GUTTER FOLD ERROR - $4,999 - (Hamburg, NJ)

Here is something you don't see often. This 1901 $10 FR-122 Bison Note has a large Gutter Fold on the right next to Clark's portrait. Large size errors are very uncommon. Gutter folds are created when there is a small fold/wrinkle in the paper stock during printing process. This fold/wrinkle causes a blank area because the ink can't get in the fold/wrinkle. Unlike many minor gutter folds this one is large and obvious. The 1901 $10 BISON Note is one of the most popular designs in United States currency. This obverse features a mighty Bison at center flanked by portraits of legenday explorers Lewis and Clark. The reverse has an allegorical figure at center between two pilars. PMG has assigned this note a conservative grade of Extremely Fine 40.
