This a complete set of the Dionne Quintuplets babies. Born May 28, 1934, they were the only surviving quintuplets to have survived. They were named Yvonne, Annette, Cecilie, Emilie and Marie. Annette and Cecilie are the only living quints. There was tragedy in their lives. After birth they were placed in a borrowed basket from a neighbor and covered with a blanket and placed close to a warm stove. Olivia, their mother, was already burdened with 5 other children and the Ontario government branded them unfit mothers when the babies were 4 months old. A compound was built across the street from the parents where the children lived and were cared for by medical staff and paraded around the yard daily for a fee that eventually added up to $51 million dollars. Dr. Dafoe who birthed the babies with 2 midwives was the head of the compound. The family could only catch glimpse of the children from across the road. In November of 1943 the family won back custody of the quints. In 1852 the quints left their parents.Emilie was studying to be a nun and had a seizure and died at 20. In 1970 Marie died of a brain bleed. Yvonne died in 2001 after she and the two remaining sisters reached a settlement of 2.8 million. They did not receive it until 2014.I love their beautiful faces and big brown eyes. Their hair is crackled and there is a secure split on the left side of one baby. Unbranded with no clothing. Rumors have abounded over the years that they were made by a famous doll maker. Please ask questions as I answer emails daily. Your browser does not support JavaScript.
