3 Antique Burmese Buddhist Monk Figures Lacquer Gilt Wood Glass Inlay - Burma - $6,000 - (Wimberley, TX)
These three are such a joy to have in a room! Always at peace and always smiling at you... They are from and were purchased in Burma. By my research I'd say they were made sometime in the 19th century, though I have no documentation on that. They are overall a deep brick red washed over with a layer of translucent gold. They have glass jewel inlay lining the edges of their robes. Their expressions are priceless and heartwarming and expertly crafted. They each measure approximately 12.5" High by 8" Wide by 14" Deep. I've seen several pairs of these types of monks online, but never three in a set. There are some glass jewels missing and the knee on the monk on the right has been damaged. The monk on the left has a crack in the middle between his legs. Notice that where the feet tuck under them there is a bit of cracking of the lacquer and the joints are slightly loose. These are all visible in the photos provided. Considering their age they are in quite good condition. No returns on these items so please ask for more information and photos if needed. Handling fee covers the cost of insurance.
