Antique Golf Club, 19th century wood club, Vintage Golf Club, 1800's Golf Clubs - $985 - (Presque Isle, MI)

Available for purchase this early hand forged Golf Club with hand drawn wooden shaft. As a collector of early sports items, this came into my possession a number of years ago from an elderly neighbor who was Scottish. I was given a number of clubs that belonged to his grandfather and this was part of that group. I am uncertain as to its exact age, however it was my neighbor's as well as my thinking that this dated prior to 1850. Possibly a specialty club for a given situation or a fore-runner to later clubs. My research thus far shows that clubs prior to 1850 were crafted by locals from materials on hand and that the local blacksmiths produced the club head. All in all an interesting relic from days gone by and ready for another appreciative caretaker and sports history buff.
