1800's fine tea chest label tait & co formosa oolong china vintage ooloong gilt - $500 - (Littleton, NH)

I had this listed a few weeks ago, but I figured after it having it framed would really make a difference. This has been professionally framed and looks spectacular. Such an amazing addition to any collection. The pictures are of the label before I had it framed. Large and splendidly graphic nineteenth-century tea label Original unused tea box or tea chest label, printed for the exporters Tait & Co., 19th century, letterpress printed in three colors on an approximately 14.5 x 13inch sheet of laid paper. Two light horizontal folds, and slight trimming to blank margins, otherwise fine, beautifully preserved condition, with fresh, bright colors.A scarce and colorful survival from the nineteenth-century tea trade. The printed text reads, in full: "Registered Chop / Gilt Edge / No. [blank] / Extra Choicest / Rich Bouquet / Formosa / Ooloong [sic; should read "Oolong"] / Tait & Co." The exuberant Victorian lettering, printed in a combination of metallic gold and black inks, contrasts most strikingly against the vibrant crimson background. The whole is surrounded by a border of repeated-diamond design printed in gold.The exporters Tait & Co. were founded in 1845.All sales final. Shipping to US only. Paypal only.
