You can start using or display this skillet and lid right out of the box. No further cleaning necessary (or possible). Skillet and Lid have NO chips, NO cracks, NO rust and NO pitting. This skillet sets perfectly flat on a hard flat surface...tested on plate glass. Cooking surface is very smooth with little evidence of prior usage. The black color is the result of seasoning ONLY...NO oils or greases have been applied, after seasoning, to enhance photos or mask flaws. Item will be securely packaged and heavily padded for shipment.
