HERE WE HAVE AN 8X10 B&W PHOTO SIGNED BY REAR ADMIRAL JOHN DUNCAN BULKELEY. HE HOLDS THE HISTORICAL DISTINCTION OF RESCUING GEN. DOUGLAS MACARTHUR FROM CORREGIDOR BY MOTOR TORPEDO BOAT IN 1942. HIS EXPLOITS WERE IMMORTALIZED IN THE MOVIE "THEY WERE EXPENDABLE" STARRING JOHN WAYNE, AND ROBERT MONTGOMERY AS BULKELEY. HE WAS GIVEN THE CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR FOR THIS ACTION. HE GRADUATED THE NAVAL ACADEMY IN 1933. LATER IN WW2, AT THE AGE OF 32 , HE COMMANDED 17,000 MEN DURING THE D-DAY LANDING. HE LATER COMMANDED GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL FACILITY IN THE 1960S. IN ADDITION TO THE MOH HE RECEIVED THE NAVY CROSS, 2 DSCs, DSM, 2 SILVER STARS, 2 LEGION OF MERITS AND THE FRENCH CROIX DE GUERRE. HE IS BURIED IN ARLINGTON CEMETERY. IN 2000 HE WAS RECOGNIZED BY THE NAMING OF A GUIDED MISSLE DESTROYER IN HIS HONOR. PHOTO IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO BENDS OR TEARS.
