Research indicates this jersey dates to 1971 and was likely worn multiple times over multiple seasons and preseasons with players starting with QB Bob Leahy. Actual game used dureen / durene jersey issued by the Pittsburgh Steelers with 1971 tagging (many thanks to a fellow collector friend who advised me that it is likely the jersey worn by kicker Gene Mingo as well in the football trading card photo shown), tagging also used in subsequent seasons including 1974 (Super Bowl IX Championship season) and used in multiple seasons and preseasons and eventually ending up with Mark Malone issued to him and worn in his rookie season and then sold to me by his daughter. Autographed by Malone himself on the sleeve in the gold portion, a solid enough autograph to please those that appreciate autographs but not intrusive enough to detract too much for people that don't like autographs, in my opinion. Nameplate is tightly cropped as became practice late in the 70s. Looks to originally have been a long-sleeved jersey with the arms cropped by the team. Comes with a letter from Malone's daughter and the original FedEx air waybill in which she shipped the jersey to me, which I bought directly from her. Jersey has one repair on the back shoulder and shows clear evidence of a nameplate change. Looks to be the same jersey as shown in the photo shown of Neil Graff who wore it in 1977 (backup QB) and in the preseason photo shown of an unknown player with Chuck Noll. Photo shown of Noll, Bradshaw, and Malone believed to be from 1980 with the jersey appearing to be the one Malone is wearing. The material of the nameplate is from the late 70s/80s and does not exactly match the durene of the jersey itself. There is no additional LOA and the photos are not meant to suggest a 100% "photo match".
