Antique Military Sentry's Watchman Mechanical Brass Clock J. Burk Original - $750 - (Ladysmith, BC)

For sale is an original Military Sentry's Watchman mechanical brass clock by Johannes Burk (Patented 1855). These Watchman Clocks have no alarms or bells, just a paper roll that is pinpricked when the watchman attends at a watch station. I know very little about these clocks but do know that this particular clocks runs well. It has two keys which work but are no original to the clock. Note the small bit of damage to the porcelain clock face. The crossbar on the clock is inscribed "Burk's System" and the parts of the clock bear the same serial number, 2991. It is my belief that this would make the clock a very early one and probably made in the 1855-1860 period. Please look at the pictures and ask your question before continuing with this auction.
