Pair Mid 19th Century ORIGINAL OIL PAINTINGS ON CANVAS Portraits Husband & Wife - $1,250 - (Redding, CT)

I am pleased to be offering for your consideration this pair of handsome early to mid-19th Century American original oil paintings on canvas. As you can see, this pair includes portraits of a well-heeled husband and wife in period attire. These large portraits, which are presumably painted by the same artist, have matching gold leaf frames with foliate corners. The paintings are fairly large, measuring approximately 35 1/2" by29 1/4" as framed. I would say that the paintings are in overall good antique condition, with craquelure and spotting to the canvas (as one might expect to find with paintings between 150 and 200 years old) as well as a fine split in the forehead of the woman and a blemish to the lower left hand corner of the man's portrait, as pictured. The frames are in good condition as well with minor scuffs and scratches. That being said, there is no question that this pair of portraits has great aesthetic value and will greatly enhance your home or office. Thank you for looking.
