Signed Antique 1920s Painting Windmill Swans & Ship On Porcelain Door Folk Art - $650 - (Swansea, MA)
Very unusual painted door. This door is from a late 1920's General Electric monitor top refrigerator. The door is made of porcelain coated steel. The oil painting appears to be as early as the door itself. Heavy crazing and oxidation is seen in the paint giving a great show of age (see photos). Some light surface rust is seen in the clouds/around the windmill. We see a home with smoke coming from a chimney, a windmill, a ship and swans all on a river in front of a snow covered mountain range with a cloudy night sky in the background. This painting is signed lower left "Joe schmeltzer" we see the original label for GE on the back. Previous owner had mounted a corrugated steel strip on the back for hanging. The door measures 33x 23 and is about 3.5 inches thick. It weights around 30lbsĀ Please message us with any questions Returns are not a hassleĀ Thank you
