Bo Walker ( 1951-1986) Afro-American artist Bo Walker was born in Virginia and moved to Brooklyn,N.Y. in 1972 and studied at Pratt Institute where he graduated with a B.F.A. He lived and worked in Bedford-Stuyvesant until his death in 1986. He was fascinated by the Harlem Renaissance and used the people who lived around him in Brooklyn for his subjects. A friend visiting him in 1983 saw what is surely this statue, he describes a bronze statue of a man and woman dressed in the style of the 1920's, locked in a dance step, her clinging dress swirling around her legs and hips. A sculpture by him is in the Schomburg Center Collection, "Frederick Douglas Ikenga, 1978. His untimely death at 35, while he was still developing as an artist, kept him from the recognition he deserved. Signed and dated 1983 #3 of 12 casts 17 3/4 inches high approx.
