Up for auction is 1975 First Edition of XIT, The American Cowboy in an edition limited to 50,000 copies. This book originally came from the publisher from someone who worked either for them or with them. This book is not numbered as it must be some type of proof since it came from the publisher. The book is rather large checking in at approximately 12 1/4 inches by approximately 12 1/4 inches which makes it fairly heavy along with the 160 pages counting front and back. The author, Caleb Pirtle, signed a card which is on the inside cover. See photos. The American Cowboy is a celebration of the life and times of the cowboy from times past. The celebration rings all the more true because of the backgrounds of the ten artists who have created the paintings in this book.
