Beautiful quality vintage Nantucket Basket Purse signed by Stephen Gibbs (1896-1974). This basket is a traditional size of 6.5 inches high, 8.5 inches wide, and 6 inches front to back. The 2 carved whales are outstanding with their turned up tails. This basket has the trademark Gibbs clasp. The basket and the whales have a lovely patina. The woven loop on the clasps is in need of repair from normal use. This basket will carefully packed, double boxed, and insured. Thank you.
