Navajo Sterling Turquoise/Coral Chip Inlay Water Bird/Peyote Bird Necklace 70s - $1,450 - (Rociada, NM)

Origin of this kind of chip inlay is attributed to the Kirks ca. 1961. This kind of Navajo chip inlay work lasted only a few years, they were overtaken by imports of Asia. This is a real Navajo made chip inlay necklace and should be in any serious collection of Native art. Inlay is coral and turquoise with additional coral stones set into fine saw tooth bezels and enhanced with hand twisted silver wires on each bird. This fantastic necklace has no hallmark of the maker, likely made in the 70s. Necklace is 28 1/8 inches long. Center Bird is 3 inches long and 1 7/8 inches wide.
