1856 Flying Eagle Cent, the classic first year Pattern issue, and the first of all the U. S. Small Sized Cents that have followed since. This is an original high end circulated example (take a real good close look at our photos, this coin is the perfect choice for us "persnickety" and eccentric collectors to pop out of it's holder and put in our album), certified by PCGS as an AU in a Details holder (the listed grade is our estimate of the numerical details equivalent). Attributed as one of the Proof strikings, this saw some brief use in circulation and shows some light, very old scratches on the Obverse. If this was not one of the most iconic American Key date coins, these would not likely be mentioned, certainly not if the coin was "raw". Regardless, a very attractive coin that would be the highlight of just about any collection of Small Cents - the very minor defects allow us to discount this coin a bit.
