Sherman Loomis antique western saddle. S Loomis Saddlery was established in Santa Barbara in 1858.and was owned by the Loomis family until was sold in 1898. His firm was the earliest, largest, and longest lived in Santa Barbara. His work was superior in terms of design, craftsmanship and decoration. His was the shop of choice for wealthy rancheros. This is a well used working saddle that has had repairs, but it still represents the fine workmanship and quality of 1 of the finest California saddlemakers of the the 19th century.
