Teddy the Artist is one of the most sought-after and hard to find of the battery-operated toys of that era. The bear's head nods left & right as his arm traces the outline of one of the nine templates of various animals with his hand-held crayons included with the toy. This one is MINT-IN-BOX with all parts, original dividers and an equally excellent box. Perfect working condition, of course! Extremely rare in this unplayed-with condition.Please read condition notes above and inspect photos closely prior to bidding. Based on a late 19th Cent. automaton, the toy uses 'hidden' metal patterns to magically draw a recognizable outline of an animal. A removable slot located underneath the desk precisely fits the shape of one of the nine different animal templates. The slot is then re-inserted into the desk. Flip the switch and its right hand follows the outline to seemingly create its own animal drawing. As Teddy's hand and arm completes the drawing, its head moves from side to side, while the eyes blink up and down. This gives it an overall effect of extreme concentration as it creates it's masterpiece!The animal patterns include duck, elephant, camel, butterfly, bear, dog, cat, squirrel and rabbit.
