Saxton Pope Yahi Archery ++ in original 22 volume set American Archaeology Ethno - $2,500 - (Libby, MT)

I know I have not been dealing in tradition archery books as long as some, I started around the year 2000. But I know that this 22 volume set is a once in a lifetime opportunity, maybe once in many lifetimes opportunity. It is extremely rare. About 15 years ago I had just volume 13 (which is the most desirable to the traditional archer) and sold it for $1000.       For those who are interested and do not know; Saxton Pope was the medical doctor for the University of California at Berkley when A.L. Kroeber and others were around. In 1911, I believe, the last wild Indian of the continental USA came out of the wild, starving to death. They called him Ishi, Kroeber was notified and took Saxton Pope, the doctor, with him by train to where Ishi was being held. Since that meeting Kroeber, Pope, and others like Art Young, were close friends with Ishi. They wrote Ethnological papers and technical papers about Ishi and archery etc. Saxton Pope wrote his 3 rarest works at this time. Yahi archery, The medical history of Ishi, and The study of bows and arrows. These 3 were all published by the University of California Publications in American Archaeology and Ethnology. Of course there were very limited printings, mostly going to other universities and specialists in the fields. These technical papers were accumulated in volumes and bound, so volume 13 is the bound volume that has Saxton Popes and Kroebers and others writings on Ishi. Probably other volumes also had some info on Ishi, the Yahi, and Yana. But in volume 13 the other writers also deal with Ishi and have numerous plates showing Ishi and the land where he lived as well as a fold out map. But all the 22 volumes deal with California Indian history in great detail. Vol 1 starts in 1903 and volume 22 ends in 1927. There were more volumes printed that go into the 1940's and maybe beyond but all I have are the first 22 volumes.      The condition of these is excellent. as in the photo this set was from the library…
