We are selling our 40 year personal collection of Chinese Export Silver............................... Featured Professor Adrien von Ferscht's web site March 15, 2014. This is the actual set in Forbes Peabody Museum collection. Illustrated pg. 217 of his text. From the most important Canton silversmith of all time Cutshing. Bearing his early "CU/k" mark 1850 - 1860 (See Forbes). Classic rectangular design gently curved at corner. Pierced shell and leaf handles. The centre with large rippling surface scallop shell. Framed in sweeping vine with ruffled leaf terminal. As found on the original c1820 George III English design. Thick well cast covers. Perfect fit to base. Globe and leaf cap, twin vine finials in petal frame. Gothic "B". Entree dishes 14 1/2 inches by 9 and 6 1/2 inches tall set weighs 171 (standard) ounces. Hallmarked as shown. The identical "CU/k" illustrated in Forbes page 244. The marks extremely crisp and well struck. Fine condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina throughout. The beautiful shell and scroll detail and pierced shell and leaf handles retain their original crisp, vibrant detail. Covers close flush to base. Few tiny scattered bumps, mostly to corner of covers. Interior centre one with some fine lines. The base of one with old patch appox. 1 1/4 by 1/2 inch as shown last image. Massachusetts residents are subject to sales tax.
