Early Vtg. Lacquer Brass "Melody Master" Saxophone/Martin Script/Elkhart /#4710 - $730 - (Newcomerstown, OH)

Very solid and complete, rare "Melody Master" , brass saxophone. All original as far as parts and pieces. The only thing missing is a reed. The lacquer is still in pretty decent condition, with some lite scratches. I really don't see any wear marks in the finish. Marked on the back "LOW PITCH "A". The serial number on the horn and neck piece do match. I cannot find an age on this, most other I have found, the lowest serial number is in the 8000 range, they claim it to be 1931, so I really don't know the age. The case is solid, but for just a little handle work, and it looks like it is 1930's style. The ligature also has a big "A" stamped in the middle(hallmark?). All the keys seems to work , and work nicely. The pads look to have a little age, but also seems to be in very good condition. I only had a clarinet reed to try this horn out, but the reed didn't work very well. I was reading that they only made silverplated saxophones, but I did find a fellow in the U.K. That owns 3 brass lacquer horn, one being an alto sax. Thanks for looking.
