Vintage Gullah African American South Carolina Low Country Sweetgrass Basket - $190 - (Effingham, SC)

Very vintage Gullah sweet grass purse/sewing basket.  Item recovered from estate sale in the Charleston, SC area.  Very rare to find with color banding.  Sweet grass has great aging as can be seen in the pictures.  There is some damage on the bottom as can been seen in the pictures and has been repaired a long time ago. Note repair.  This is one of the nicest early examples I've seen from the low country.
