Victorian Micro Mosaic - $665 - (Bend, OR)

This Micro Mosaic depiction of the Roman Forum is in pristine condition. Micro mosaics were made in Rome and the best are from the early to mid 1800s, souvenirs brought back from the 'Grand Tour' of Europe. The black surround is shiny and sparkling. There are no cracks or missing tesserae, a collector's dream. The beautiful frame is silver with a very very fine rope trim surrounding it snugly. The hinged pin is in good working order with a 'c' clasp, emblematic of its time. Micro mosaics in excellent condition are getting more and more difficult to come by since they are such delicate objects that have been around for so long. Measurements In oval 2" X 1 1/2"
