This is absolutely authentic, not a reproduction, and these are rarely found in this outstanding condition. This ticker was presented as an award to a prominant, successful trader on the Chicago Board of Trade. He was actually a legend in financial circles having been a Chicago police officer who took up commodity trading and became a multimillionaire. He was also known as an important horse breeder maintaining a stable of more than 100 thoroughbred horses, one of which won the Preakness. He gave this ticker to a close family member from whom I obtained it. The Edison Stock Ticker was unveiled in New York City in 1867 and it quickly revolutionized the financial markets beause suddenly up to the minute prices were available to investors all over the country.
