Very large circa 1960's oil on canvas by the French painter Lucien Delarue, 1925-2011. Seems to be here at the height of his powers, and it is the image everyone prefers, the rooftops of Paris along the Seine. He was obviously a very good painter. 28" x 32" canvas size... the largest in the history of his auction records... and in the original frame. Some drips, and darkening of the old varnish, in some areas (see pics). Canvas unmarred, though there are chips to the frame... age appropriate. Some stains to liner. This is what you want in a painter... his largest, finest executed work, showing his best subject matter. Nothing like what appear to be fakes, or things painted with marshmallow cream, or, at best, later, weaker works you see by him that come up for sale. Easily a $4000 painting in a gallery.
