Dinner Plates Porcelain Floral Rose Medallion Set of 5 Union T Czechoslovakia - $43 - (Atlanta, GA)

This listing is for a beautiful set of 5 dinner plates by the United Porcelain Factory in Czechoslovakia. Made between 1921 and 1939 these gorgeous plates feature a floral wreath pattern with bands of pink roses in between shield shaped medallions with a white, daisy type flower against a blue background. The plates are ringed with a golden zigzag border and gilt edge. Measures approximately 9 7/8" in diameter. Stamped on the bottom with the Union T inside a crowned wreath.In excellent overall condition, there is one plate with thin spider cracks most likely caused by heat in the firing process. 1921 Porcelain Union, United Porcelain Factory AG was formed in the village of Meretitz outside of Klasterec (Klosterle). The Anglo Czechoslovakia bank merged several factories to form the new business with offices in Klasterec. These factories were: Gottfired and Vielgut, W Tuma & O Vielgut Porcelain Factory, and the Julius Neuman factory was also a part of the business. One of the marks used by these factories was a wreath with the word Union and the alpha character “K” for Klasterec or Klosterle. (Note: Henderson and Rontgen have different descriptions for these factories. The above information is according to Decorated Bohemian Porcelain, Henderson.) Additionally in 1921 the Alexandra Porcelain Works Ernst Wahliss factory in Trnovany (Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia, Austria) was merged into the new business. One of the marks used by this factory was a wreath with the word Union and the alpha character “T”, for Turn-Teplitz or Trnovany. 1939 all of the factories were closed.
