Anasazi - Mimbres Lizard Bowl Replica - $110 - (Springerville, AZ)

This is a fantastic replication of a Mimbres design and bowl of a delightful lizard. The Mimbres culture (circa 200 – 1150 A.D.) is believed to be an offshoot of the prehistoric Anasazi. Because of a geographical isolation their pottery art developed along a divergent pathway which bequeathed a legacy of fantastic pictorial bowls celebrating the natural world that surrounded them all so many years ago. The now extinct culture existed in the prehistoric southwestern deserts of North America. This lizard bowl was hand built and painted with a homemade yucca brush. It was wood fired in a dirt pit which rendered distinct fire clouds that accentuate the bowl and design. The bowl’s surface is enhanced by a rich patina which can only be obtained through the use traditional processes and primitive techniques. The bowl is a wonderful replication and a tribute to the extinct culture that originally created it. Size: 7 inches diameter $135.00 with free shipping and handling in the contiguous United States of America
