RARE & WONDERFUL!! TIFFANY Carriage Clock (French) with enamel art panels, 1895 - $8,500 - (Newport, RI)

Here is a most beautiful French Carriage clock with hand-painted enamel panels. It embodies the superior quality that made Tiffany famous, and was retailed by them in 1895. (The inscription on the bottom records the original owner.) This is a large and heavy carriage clock. It has a fine hour-repeating movement with alarm function. The alarm dial is located on the rear plate to avoid disrupting the beauty of the front panel, and the alarm has its own gong. The fine leather carrying case is included. This clock is completely original, has no signs of repairs, and has been in storage for many years. The movement is running and keeping good time, but obviously deserves a servicing after all these years. There is some rubbing to the gilt finish.
