vintage 1945 Longines flyback " Chronostop " wristwatch single flat pusher - $750 - (New Bern, NC)
From local estate this is a nice complicated watch that would be a prize on your arm with some TLC. Serial no. on mov't 7226398 indicates this if from 1945. Watch currently runs spotty, stops and starts with shake, chrono pusher is hard to depress but seems to irregularly actuate the timing feature on the blue steel hand and arrow shape second hand and when depressed again it doesn't always return hand to 12, usually just backs it by 1 or 2 numbers. Dial signed Longines patent and Swiss, Case back signed inside "cased and timed in USA by Longines 10 kt. gold filled 9505724 . The Watch is 33.50 mm across including crown, 30.60 without crown. Dial is 28.00 mm. It is 38.75 mm lug to lug and lugs are 16 mm wide. Movement is signed 17 jewels unadjusted. Longines Watch Co. Swiss. Brevet LXW and 7226398. The movement needs cleaning for sure and the dial is spotty with some spotting on the second hand on the subsecond dial. I don't see any brassing on the case but there are scratch marks from opening on the back side. Hard to photo all intricacies, but photographed with flash, without flash, in direct light and indirect light. Hopefully you can see the true condition with all these angles. Although it does function partially, I am selling this as to be repaired, I'm not a watch repairman but I do think it needs more than just cleaning but I don't know what else nor who to trust with these type repairs. From my reading I think this is a 12.68Z movement. I honestly believe with a good works repairman, a touch up or redo to the dial and the watch would be in the 1500 range. Please ask any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer and look closely at photographs, they may show something I forgot to mention.
