Handwritten Chase Family Genealogy. By Stephen Chase, 1852 Hardcover in original marbled boards and leather spine. Completely handwritten entries by Stephen Chase. The ledger is in very good condition with a small 1-2 inch split in the leather spine.The work is essentially divided into four sections with each separated by a number of blank pages.The first section of the ledger is instructions for math problems: multiplication, division, board measure, cube and square roots, circumference, etc.The second section is a ledger of Stephen Chase's income and outgoing monies starting in 1844.The third section includes the places Stephen Chase worked from 1838-1850.The fourth and last section is a genealogy of the Chase family from 1544-1852, including William Chase esquire to Henry VIII and Judge Samuel Chase.The ledger appears to be written beginning 1844 when Stephen's income is detailed.The Chase family has deep historical roots in the history of America. The author, Stephen B. Chase is related to Judge Samuel Chase (b. 1741), Signed of the Declaration of Independence and Supreme Court Justice appointed by George Washington.
