Extremely Unique THREAD HOLDER...Lipstick Tube-Shaped Advertising item from the Corkins Chemical Company of Cincinnati, Ohio... Corkins manufactured a line of products known as, Red-Star Insecticides. This item appears to have been a novelty promotional item the company gave to its retail merchants or possibly its female customers to be carried in a purse or handbag. The holder is similar in shape and design to a woman's lipstick tube (or a bullet), and is made of aluminum. Removing the cap reveals a spacer reel inside that holds 2 different threads - in this case, 1 spacer has white thread, the other has black thread. Research shows the Corkins Chemical Company was established in 1905 and is long defunct. They were located at; 1114 Elm Street in Cincinnati, Ohio. Its President was J.W. Corkins. The tube measures just under 2.25" and is cylindrical. The outside of the tube reads as follows: 'Corkins Chemical Co. Manufacturers Red-Star Insecticides Cincinnati, Ohio' The tube is in excellent condition as is the spacer reel.
