2000 P ANACS MS65 Sacagawea Golden Dollar $1 Die Chip Error Eye of Providence T1 - $40 - (Cleveland, OH)
You are viewing an Uncirculated 2000 P ANACS MS65 Sacagawea Golden Dollar $1 Die Chip Error "Eye of Providence ~ Type 1 Error", featuring a Die Chip on the Reverse which gives the appearance of one of the 17 stars (one for each of the US states at the time of the Lewis and Clark expedition) Having an Eye, making this error variety quite unique. There is ALSO a Die Gouge evidenced on the Obverse between the 'E' and 'R' of 'LIBERTY'; this is typical in my experience with this error variety and refer to it as "Type 1" (T1). This Uncirculated coin was carefully identified, and then placed immediately into a Small Dollar sized Snap-Lock for preservation until it was sent to ANACS for Grading and Encapsulation in early 2002. The second star on the bottom, the one over the "D" in "DOLLAR" has a rather large die Chip between the lowest point and bottom right point, which gives the appearance of an eye, complete with a lid and pupil. The eye thus falls into the triangle formed by the two points of the star, an uncanny resemblance to the eye inside of the triangle over the pyramid in the Great Seal of the United States, above which is the term "Annuit Coeptis" - translating to "(The Eye of) Providence favors our undertakings". An unusual heraldic reference to the "paper" dollar bills the coin was targeted to replace, especially when one imagines that the remaining four triangles of the star could form the pyramid, and the Golden Star itself representing the "Golden Glory". Symbols of Freemasonry: the All-Seeing Eye of Horus or Illuminati, the pyramid, the eagle - the star with the All-Seeing Eye is 14th counting counterclockwise from the eagle's tail feathers, with 13 stars above it. The All-Seeing Eye is a symbol also familiar to those who know of the "Then Came Bronson" television series of the late 1960s, on decals which could be found on the sides of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle's gas tank.
