1868 Seated Liberty Silver Dollar, NGC "Proof" Details (Commercial Strike Coin) - $7,495 - (Silver Spring, MD)

We believe this coin to be a commercial business strike rather than a proof. The reason we believe this has to do with the area in between the lines of the shield on the reverse. On proof examples, the space between the lines will have a clear and distinct proof polished finish, and in this case it does not. The third pictures shows an example of a certified proof seated dollar for comparison. This coin appears as a Choice BU prooflike example. Please enlarge the pictures.
