Baltimore Knabe Antique Ebony Petite Baby Grand - $2,455 - (Halethorpe, MD)
In the year of 1916, the Knabe Piano Company in Baltimore, Maryland built a beautiful petite baby grand piano. Many notable people have owned Knabe pianos including Albert Einstein and Hans Von Bulow who insisted in only playing a Knabe for all US recitals. Brigham Young liked the Knabe so much he owned three. For over 40 years, the Knabe was the official piano of the Metropolitan Opera in New York and is known for its strong clear tone and great heavy touch. This 1916 piano was restored prior to present owner purchase. Present owner is moving to West coast and cannot move this wonderful instrument in clear conscience. The piano is in good condition, has great sound. There is an upper octave hammer damaged long ago that does not impact typical play. An expert noted that this hammer is best left in its original state. It is 5 feet, 2 inches and comes with bench. It has a breathtaking sound unlike anything made today. Can recommend a great mover. Original keys, block and hammers. Refinished cabinet. Purchased from original owners family in 2006. Please ask questions before bidding.
