THIS RARE & BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE DEDHAM POTTERY Drip Glaze VASE measures 7 3/4" Tall. This vase is in PERFECT CONDITION, free of chips, cracks , or repairs. It carries the inscribed name of the DEDHAM POTTERY made by Hugh C Robertson. A dramatic set of contrasts between shades of green and blue/green with small splotches of red. A really beautiful form. This is a very rare, hand-thrown, stoneware clay, drip-glazed vase by Hugh Robertson, the founder of the Dedham Pottery. It dates between 1896 and Hugh's demise in 1908. The glaze is a glossy combination of shades of green and blue with lighter streaks. Hugh made a limited number of these hand thrown and hand glazed vases - the embodiment of the ethos of the Arts and Crafts Movement. He described them as "Volcanic" in his literature!
