European Painted Armoire Cabinet "Circa 1797" - $6,500 - (Englewood, CO)
I have a beautiful antique armoire for sale. This cabinet was made in 1797, and I believe it is from Silesia, the eastern border of Germany with Prussian influences in the architectural paintings as well as decorative elements. The 1797 date is painted right above the double doors. The shaped rectangular sides with canted corners, surmounted by cove style frieze and a molded cornice. The paired doors are unique hand painted elements with four panels depicting various church buildings in a "folk art" nature. Each of the four paintings are shown in the pictures. The original aged patina paint is in vibrant bluish green color. The rustic metal lock hardware is functional and has a key to lock it up if desired. The armoire has hand hewn board construction. Inside it is divided into two sides. One side is open and on the other side has original shelves. It is in great condition and the wear is consistent with age and use.
