*** CADES COVE COLLECTION - "THE OLD HAY BARN" - BY LEO PREISLER - $69 - (Wilmer, AL)

This Leo Preisler sculpture, "The Old Hay Barn" is #3148 of 3500 in the highly collectable "Cades Cove" Series. Making hay in the 1800's was a job that spanned the summer for most farmers. If it was a "Good Weather" summer, a field could easily yield two to three crops of hay. Usually neighbors would pitch in. The hay was cut, raked, and hauled by wagon to the barn where it was forked high into the hayloft and raked again into a level pile. The process was repeated many times. This purchase includes the signed sculpture plus the original box and a card giving some of the building's history. The sculpture is 8"L x 4 3/4"W x 5 1/4"H and is in mint condition and contains no defects of any kind. These are highly detailed sculptures of real buildings still standing today that are located in the Cades Cove area of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
