Norval Morrisseau 1931-2007. Iconic Ojibway First Nations artist that was the father of the Woodland School. Member of the Native Indian Group Of Seven that included Daphne Odjig, Jackson Beardy, Alex Janvier, Eddy Cobiness, Carl Ray, Joseph Sanchez and Carl Ray. The painting offered to a serious collector has been in a single family since original acquisition. Acrylic on stretched canvas, 29" x 30", Signed in Syllabics, signed on reverse in English, Titled "Bear Trader" 76. Vibrant colours employing the Morrisseau palette of warm and cold colors. NOTE: Clearly shown in photograph is age on left side of painting. Painting was formerly stretched on canvas however was cut from stretcher. Please email all inquiries prior to the placing of a bid.
